About the CPCAB training route
Our CPCAB-awarded Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills is your first step in training as a qualified counsellor. As an online training centre we can support you to complete Levels 2 and 3 of your journey:
- a CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills which involves 30 weekly sessions over one academic year
- a CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies which involves 30 weekly sessions over a second academic year
These qualifications are recognised by CPCAB as prerequisites for their Level 4 Diploma training (or equivalents - other Level 2-3 options are available from alternative awarding bodies, although switching training route can sometimes be problematic if the qualifications en-route are not tailored to follow-on from each other).
The Certificate in Counselling Skills (CSK-L2) is the entry point on the path to a CPCAB-awarded qualification in counselling at Level 4, which can build in an assessment by BACP, the largest such organisation in the UK, affording candidates immediate acceptance as full BACP members upon successful completion of our training. Please note that not all CPCAB-recognised centres support a BACP-approved level 4 qualification, so please do check with your preferred Level 4 provider first.
Whoever you choose as your training provider, we recommend you undertake a counselling training that qualifies you to become a member of one of the bodies recognised by the UK's Professional Standards Authority. CPCAB's BACP-approved Level 4 Diploma meets the entry requirements for several of these bodies. You can find a list of professional bodies which have authorised Accredited Registers by visiting the UK's Professional Standards Authority website, and a list of providers for the Level 4 training in your local area on the CPCAB website.
